Precision machining can not be carried out on all kinds of materials. If the hardness of some materials is too high and exceeds the hardness of the processing parts, the parts may be destroyed. Therefore, these materials are not suitable for precision machining, unless they are made of special materials or laser cutting.
For precision machining materials are divided into two categories, metal materials and non-metal materials.
For metal materials, the hardness of stainless steel is the largest, followed by cast iron, followed by copper, and finally aluminum.
And the processing of ceramics, plastics, etc. belongs to the processing of non-metallic materials.
1. The first is the requirement for the hardness of materials. For some occasions, the higher the hardness of materials, the better. It is only limited to the hardness requirements of processing parts. The processed materials should not be too hard. If they are harder than the parts, they cannot be processed. Secondly, the material is moderate, at least one grade lower than the hardness of the parts. At the same time, it also depends on the function of the processed devices and the reasonable material selection of the parts.
In short, there are some requirements for materials in precision parts processing. Not all materials are suitable for processing, such as too soft or too hard materials. The former is not necessary for processing, while the latter is impossible for processing.
Therefore, the most basic one is to pay attention to the density of the material before processing. If the density is too large, it is equivalent to the hardness. If the hardness exceeds the hardness of the machine part (lathe tool), it is impossible to process. It will not only damage the parts, but also cause danger, such as the tool flying out to hurt people. Therefore, generally speaking, for mechanical processing, the material should be lower than the hardness of the machine tool, so that it can be processed.
